In 2002 we get a call. “Prince wants you to come out to Paisley Park”. I ask about the creative direction. “Do your thing” is the response.

It was a true collaboration, simple and sweet. We shot overnight at four locations inside Paisley Park. Ten hours of creation with Prince was a real gift. Like a true creative leader, Prince simply trusted me to flex my vision and deliver.

7 months later, the images we created became the cover art for the One Night Alone…Live! (box set).  Within the year I was back with Prince again to shoot the images for the Musicology cover art.

As far as I know, the bottom image of Prince was never published.  It required me rigging one of his guitars so it would spin in place as he interacted with it. This shot lasted maybe 4 minutes live on set.

Beyond his stardom, Prince touched the lives of so many here in Minneapolis. This man was the true definition of “lit from within”.

It’s been 2 years since Prince left this planet. His passing came way too soon from an accidental overdose. Please pay attention to people close to you that may be dealing with addiction. Take action, don’t wait for someone else. Life is precious.  #rip #prince
